Sin Suối Hồ Hmong Village – a captivating hamlet nestled high amidst the clouds, radiating a beautiful tranquility and an irresistibly slow pace of life.
Touch the Clouds and Rediscover True Serenity
Nestled amidst the clouds at an altitude of 1500m on Son Bac May peak, the Hmong village of Sin Suoi Ho, also known as 'Golden Stream,' is renowned as a tranquil, slow-paced haven hidden away in the mist.

Hmong girls in their vibrant flared skirts joyfully dancing.

The genuine, rustic smiles of the mountain people captivate countless travelers who visit.
The community-based tourism village of Sin Suoi Ho (Golden Stream), located in Sin Suoi Ho commune, Phong Tho district, Lai Chau province, is just about 30 km from Lai Chau city center. Here, the climate is fresh, cool, and peaceful all year round, and the local people are hardworking, simple, and sincere.
From Lai Chau city center, follow Road 4D towards Then Sin. At Tam Duong crossroads, turn left onto a gradually narrowing road that winds through endless flower fields stretching to the foot of the mountains.
The car continued to carry us along winding mountain passes, gradually ascending higher; at times crossing babbling streams, then hugging sheer cliffs, and offering glimpses of deep, terraced rice fields that seem to climb to the sky.

Sin Suoi Ho village is hidden away in the mist on Son Bac May peak at an altitude of 1500m.
The final stretch involved passing through several 'heaven's gates'; suddenly, after a bend in the misty, secluded high-altitude road, villagers lined both sides of the slope, offering trays of refreshing cardamom water, warmly welcoming visitors from the lowlands to their village.

Following village head Vang A Chinh on a stroll, we observed the smooth, clean concrete paths that wound uphill along slopes and gently curved downhill over hilltops. What particularly impressed us was not only the picturesque scenery but also the immaculate cleanliness and tidiness of the entire place.
Along the entire path, there wasn't a single piece of litter, plastic bag, or even a tiny scrap of organic waste. It was as if even fallen leaves were gently placed neatly by the breeze along the roadside.

We were incredibly impressed by the cleanliness and orderliness of this place.
From one surprise to another, the entire village community observes a strict no-alcohol and no-smoking policy. It's truly astonishing, considering that not long ago, a miraculous revitalization transformed what was once known as the 'Addiction Village'. Pastor Hang A Xa shared, "More than a decade ago, Sin Suoi Ho was notorious for opium addiction and poppy cultivation. Poverty was widespread throughout the village, and opium smoke hung thick over the fields.
'We built camps deep in the forest, and then groups of 15-20 people packed their bags and moved there, living in isolation from the outside world, determined to overcome their addiction. One group followed another, with the entire village community resolute in breaking their addiction before returning to revitalize our village,' the pastor recounted emotionally.
With state support and the implementation of new rural development programs, the villagers have collectively rebuilt their community, making it increasingly prosperous and thriving. Orchid gardens, cardamom farms, and charming little homestays have gradually emerged, warmly welcoming distant guests.

Visitors from the lowlands absolutely must experience a night's sleep amidst the clouds in this high-altitude 'Golden Stream' village at least once, to truly appreciate the delightful charm of 'slow living'. As dawn breaks, you'll hear the rhythmic thudding sounds of local men pounding sticky rice to make 'banh giay' (sticky rice cakes), a joyful welcome to the new day.

If you ever find yourself weary of a Sapa overflowing with concrete, feeling stifled by towering constructions and grand buildings, and surrounded by children selling souvenirs and asking for money every time you take a photo – then on the other side of the Hoang Lien mountain range, nestled away in the misty heights of Son Bac May peak, a humble village with its kind-hearted people awaits your visit.
